温哥华一直以美食天堂著称，可以吃到世界各地美食而闻名，无论开业多年的餐厅还是雨后春笋般出现的新餐厅，大家在享用美食的时候，似乎都没有担心过餐厅的卫生状况，但实际情况又如何呢？
据604 Now报道，尽管餐厅看起来都很干净整洁，甚至装饰高档，但很多温哥华餐厅的卫生状况都未达到理想水平。
还好，温哥华沿岸卫生局（Vancouver Coastal Health）每年都会对餐厅进行检查，2019年进行了16,000多次检查，其中65家餐厅因卫生不达标而停止营业。这些餐厅中，有些只是关闭几天限时整改，而有的餐厅被强制暂停营业。
还记得2018年底，曾发生过食客在温哥华煤气镇一家西餐厅Crab Park Chowdery用餐，从汤里捞出一只死老鼠的报道。食客将拍摄的视频发布到社交媒体，立刻引起大范围关注。虽然经过温哥华沿岸卫生局（Vancouver Coastal Health）证实，有问题的热汤是在另一间西餐厅的租用厨房里烹煮，该制汤厨房已被下令关闭。但由于这件事对餐厅造成很大的影响，事件发生后不久，这家餐厅于去年1月20日宣布永久关门。
